Looking through Vincent Laforet’s photography I was able to see that having a successful book needs to have some sort of consistency. For Laforet he had a similar color scheme/editing technique with the different grid and arial shots. My idea is to go out and find different angular and triangular shapes. I was able to find another artist, Harry Callahan, who had a similar idea to this with his work.
I found Callahan’s his work to be similar to what my idea was and that is finding shapes and objects in the world. These two shots below are by him and clearly show a angular shape and square in the middle of nature. I wanted to focus on the angles and triangular shape for my book.
He also incorporated people in a few shots. My goal was to incorporate monochromatic colors in with a person. I am unsure at the moment whether I want my images black and white with only the person in color or have colored images as well. However, I do like it that most of the time the person isn’t the main subject rather it enhances the photo and adds another element.
Even when a person is small in the photograph, they tend to be the center of interest. So your use of angles and shapes is a good way to balance this tendency.
