Gaston, Motion of Light in Water

The motion of light in the water

The motion in this image by Sally Gall is very movement crisply focused. I can see the most finite detail in the shot from the ripples in the water to the wave clashing. The fact that this image is in black and white gives a very dramatic approach to the image. It makes it seem more ominous that it was probably meant to be because of the lack of visibility. There is something calming about this image as well since the water looks very calm and peaceful towards the left hand side of the image. There is chaos in the bottom right side of the image since there seems to be clashing of waves that create an ambiguous pattern that is disrupting the cohesive narrative that the rest of the image has. Having those waves closing in the corner I believe was  a great artistic choice because it leaves the viewer wondering what lies on the right side of the image. Is there a boat? A beach? An aquatic animal reaching the surface?
