Aaron Siskind’s black and white image called the Millerton 1 was taken in 1971. A wooden plank, that maybe a pathway or a picnic table, has varying colours of the wooden planks. The white planks on the image could possibly portray the brighter colours, while the dark ones could portray the darker colours. There aren’t too many carvings on the plank. Although the carving of the number “19” is quite pronounced. The melting hues of black and white on the centre plank, shows that the painting was irregular or that it has been worn out. There are one too many bruises on the wooden planks, some deep and some possibly from the carvings on them. There is a relatively small square wooden block stuck to the second plank from the left. The blanks alternative in their colours. Starting with a single black plank, followed by three white planks, followed by another two black planks, and finally one white plank. The extreme right and left of the photograph has the edges of white planks as well. While the planks look vertical, they were diagonally photographed.
Good observation of the small wooden square, the alternating tones and diagonal directional lines. Be sure to link your image to the media file.
