Artist Statement:
The first time I came to Lehigh, it was a beautiful brisk Autumn day. I had never seen a school that seemed to fit the fall aesthetic so perfectly. This charm that Lehigh has is one of the many reasons I decided to pursue my college education here. I have chosen to display Lehigh in Autumn as my subject matter to commemorate the school’s importance to me. My goal is to capture the changing colors of the leaves, amongst the gothic style of campus, to celebrate Lehigh’s true beauty.
The bench and chair images are strong where you have isolated the color in the leaves and left the chair/bench in black and white. That makes the color pop without over saturating the color. This book provides a good introduction to the lower campus during the fall season.
I like the variety you were able to achieve with this topic. Taking 40 unique pictures of leaves seems like it could get repetitive, but you managed to keep them interesting. I especially like how some images focus on an entire tree, and other focus more on the individual leaves. I think doing that helped give this book that autumn feel.
I really like all the colors in your photos and the black and white aspect that highlights the colors even more
